Rachel Briimble

If I was a first time reader of your books, which one would you recommend I start with and why?

I would probably recommend The Arrival of Lily Curtis – my first historical. Although I have written more contemporary novels that historicals so far, ‘Lily’ seems to really resonate with readers. I am so happy with the reviews and feedback I have had with this book because I adored writing it and I really think it reflects my humor, my ethics and my love for all things British.

Readers have told me they have cried and had laugh out loud moments when reading ‘Lily’ – what more can a writer ask for?

What’s something fans would find fascinating about you?
The most terrifying thing that has happened to me, is my family and I were caught up in the French floods in June 2010. We were woken at 2am with rain hammering down and sirens sounding. We went outside to find the campsite covered in water, within an hour it was covering the car roofs. We had to stand on the clubhouse roof for 12 hours before being rescued by helicopter.

Not the best holiday we’ve ever had!

How do your family and/or friends feel about your book or writing venture in general?
They love it and are so supportive! Many of my friends have known me for years and knew this is all I ever wanted to do. When my first book was published in 2007, I felt as though I’d finally started on a long road to what I hope will be a lifetime career.

My parent’s pride shows in their eyes every time I hand them a new release – I hope to be able to keep putting that look in their eyes for a long, long time.

Where are you from?
I live in South West England and a small market town in Wiltshire – It is a small community, which I really like, and then just a short drive in any direction takes you into the countryside that is wonderful. We have some very famous tourist attractions not far from us such as Bath, Stonehenge, Avebury…the list goes on.

A little further afield takes you into the Cotswolds villages which are absolutely beautiful.

When not writing, how do you relax?
Read, walk with my beloved Labrador, see friends and family…drink white wine!

What’s a guilty pleasure you have?
White wine and strawberry cheesecake – not necessarily at the same time!

What sound drives you crazy?
My daughters fighting!

If you came with a warning label, what would it say?
Savage when disturbed…

What’s for dinner tonight?
I don’t know but I’ve woken up to find my husband has put chicken on the drainer to defrost!

What is your favorite candy bar?
Snickers

*Please share with us your future projects and upcoming releases.

I currently have another Victorian historical and contemporary romantic suspense with my agent so hope 2012 will bring two new releases.

After a successful pitch session this summer, Mira have requested the full manuscript of the romantic suspense so I am super excited about that. Watch this space!

As well as that, I am currently writing a sexy contemporary romance set again in South West England. The heroine is a scream and totally lusting after the poor hero – I am so enjoying writing her story right now!

My current release is Paying The Piper, available from Lyrical Press on September 19th – here’s the blurb:

Nightclub manager Grace Butler is on a mission to buy the pub where her mother's ashes are scattered but the owner wants to sell to anyone but her. And that owner happens to be her father...who has a secret she will do anything to discover.

Social worker and all around good guy Jimmy Betts needs funds to buy a house for three special kids before their care home closes. Time is running out and he's desperate for cash. He agrees to to a one-time 'job' for bad-man

Karl Butler. But in a sudden turn of events, Jimmy finds himself employed by Karl's beautiful, funny and incredibly sexy daughter, Grace. Their lives couldn't be more different, yet one thread binds them: they're both trying to escape the bonds of their fathers. Maybe the only way they'll be free is by being together, instead of alone.
